Privacy, in plain language.

Fernlet is made for parents and guardians. Children do not create accounts, and we aim to collect only what a grown-up chooses to share to organize a home-learning experience.

What we collect

When the Family Garden opens, a parent may sign in with Google. Fernlet receives the basic account information needed to sign in, such as the parent’s name, verified email address and profile picture. We do not request Google Drive, contacts or calendar access.

A parent may create a child profile using a nickname, broad age band, preferred learning rhythm and session length, interests, available materials, language choice and areas the parent wants to practice. Parents may also save activity participation, optional observations and short notes.

What we intentionally avoid

Fernlet does not require a child’s full name, exact birth date, school, address, photo, diagnosis or child email account. Please do not place medical, diagnostic, location, school or other sensitive information in an optional note.

How information is used

We use account and profile information to provide the Family Garden, remember separate children’s plans, save progress across devices, provide support, secure accounts and administer membership. Progress entered in the public Week 1 sample stays in that browser’s local storage and is not sent to Fernlet. We do not sell personal information or build advertising profiles from a child’s learning records.

Payments

Paid enrollment is not open yet. When it opens, payment details will be collected and processed by Stripe. Fernlet will receive billing status, transaction references and limited customer details needed to grant access and provide support; Fernlet will not store full card numbers.

Storage, security and retention

We use access controls, authenticated server requests and reasonable technical safeguards. No system can promise perfect security. We keep profile and learning information while the family account remains open, then delete or de-identify it when it is no longer reasonably needed, subject to legal and fraud-prevention obligations.

Your choices

A parent can download their Fernlet data, remove an individual child profile or delete the family account from account settings. Marketing messages are optional and off by default. Transaction records that must be retained for accounting, tax, dispute or legal purposes may be kept separately for the required period.

Children’s privacy

Fernlet’s account service is directed to adults. A parent or legal guardian must create and control the account. If you believe a child submitted personal information without appropriate adult involvement, contact us so we can investigate and remove it.

Service providers and changes

We may use carefully selected providers for hosting, authentication, databases, payments, email and security. They may process information only to provide those services under their own contractual and legal obligations. We will post material changes here and update the date above.
