Week 2 · Strong hands, listening feet and a body full of possibilities.
My Body Can
Week 2 helps your child notice what their body can do, practice caring for it and build confidence through movement, sensory play and everyday independence.
This week’s little language thread: cabeza · manos · pies · ojos · puedo / head · hands · feet · eyes · I can
Day 1 · Body awareness · vocabulary · listening
Head to Toe
your child maps their body through songs, matching and joyful stop-and-go movement.
Morning6 minMorning helloHello, cuerpoBody-part vocabulary + imitation
- Sing a slow head-shoulders-knees-and-toes song together.
- Repeat with two Spanish words: cabeza for head and pies for feet.
- Let your child choose one body part for you both to wiggle.
Try saying“This is my cabeza—my head. Where is your cabeza?”
Name and touch just head, hands and feet.
Pause before each body part and let your child supply the word or action.
After snack12 minAfter snackBuild a little bodyBody schema + spatial arrangement
- Draw one large circle for a head and a simple body shape.
- Offer paper strips for two arms and two legs.
- Invite your child to place the parts where they think they belong.
- Add eyes, a mouth and hair together without correcting artistic choices.
Try saying“Your body has parts that work together. Where should these strong piernas—legs—go?”
Place one arm and ask your child to match the other side.
Add elbows, knees or fingers and talk about what each part helps us do.
Afternoon10 minAfternoon playBe my mirrorVisual attention + motor imitation
- Face each other and explain that your child is your mirror.
- Move slowly: raise one hand, bend, reach and make a funny face.
- Switch leaders so your child chooses the movements.
- End with both bodies becoming very still.
Try saying“My mirror is watching carefully. Can your body copy my slow reach?”
Copy one simple movement at a time.
Make a two-movement sequence for the other person to remember.
Movement time8 minMovement breakMove and freezeImpulse control + body control
- Invite your child to move while you hum, clap or play a short song.
- Stop the sound and say freeze.
- Notice what helped their body stop, then begin again.
- Give your child a turn controlling the sound.
Try saying“Your feet are moving—and now your listening body is still.”
Use slow walking instead of dancing.
Call a frozen shape: tall, tiny, wide or curled.
Bedtime4 minBedtime connectionThank you, bodyRecall + body appreciation
- Before reading, remember one thing your child’s body did today.
- Invite them to thank one body part.
- Share your own answer if they would rather listen.
Try saying“Thank you, manos—hands—for helping us make and play.”
